GEESE

Long before turkey became the centrepiece of the Christmas dinner table, a magnificent roast goose was the traditional choice - famously celebrated by Charles Dickens in A Christmas Carol.

We hatch our own goslings in small numbers from established breeding stock and, after just two weeks, they begin to enjoy grazing on lush summer pastures and dabbling in fresh water. As well as having unrestricted access to grass and searching out their own feed of seeds, berries, bugs and shoots, our beautiful geese receive a ration of whole wheat to ensure they grow slowly and with a wonderful finish.

Our geese are dry plucked and game hung for two weeks to create the ultimate Yuletide luxury. Why not make 2021 a Christmas to remember with a sensational free range goose on your festive table?

All our geese will fit a standard oven and range from 4kg to 6.5kg (oven-ready weight with giblets). For size guide and cooking info please see our order page here.

Embden Geese

Embden Geese

Embden geese originated in Germany in the 13th century - although it wasn’t until the 19th century that the current form was established. Large, tall and stately the Embden is the archetypical white goose with excellent firm meat. However, true Embden are now rare and not every farmyard white goose you see belongs to this select group.
